Connect a Fax Machine to the GFiber Phone Box

Learn how to connect your fax machine to your GFiber Phone Box using wall jacks, splitters, or a direct connection.

You can usually use a fax machine with GFiber Phone as long as it’s physically connected to your GFiber Phone Box. Depending on your setup, you can connect the fax machine directly to the phone box or through your existing home or office phone wiring.

Most fax machines can send or receive faxes of 20 to 30 pages without issues. Larger faxes may occasionally fail depending on the device and connection.

Some fax machines may not work reliably with VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) phone services, which use your internet connection to place calls instead of a traditional phone line. If you’re having trouble sending or receiving faxes, check with your fax machine manufacturer for compatibility details or troubleshooting steps.

Connect Your Fax Machine

Choose the option below that best fits your setup.

Use your wall jack

If your GFiber Phone service was installed using your home or office phone wiring, you can plug your fax machine into any available wall jack.

  1. Use a standard RJ11 phone cord.

  2. Plug one end into your fax machine.

  3. Plug the other end into the wall jack.

Use a phone line splitter

If your Phone Box and fax machine need to share the same wall jack, you can use a standard RJ11 splitter.

  1. Plug the splitter into the wall jack.

  2. Connect one phone cord from the splitter to the phone box.

  3. Connect another phone cord from the splitter to the fax machine.

You can also plug your fax machine directly into the GFiber Phone Box.

  1. Locate the port labeled Phone on the back of the GFiber Phone Box.

  2. Use an RJ11 phone cord to connect your fax machine to this port.
