About the GFiber Phone Platform Update
Starting in 2026, we’ll begin updating the platform that powers your GFiber Phone service. This change enables future improvements and includes additional call handling options.
As the transition approaches, you’ll receive email updates with timing and next steps. Most customers won't need to take immediate action, and we’ll provide guidance throughout the process.
What’s Staying the Same
Your core GFiber Phone service will continue to work exactly as it does today.
-
Your phone number: Your current number remains active and linked to your account.
-
Your price: Current customers keep the same $10 per month rate.
- Your bill: Your phone and internet services will continue to appear on one bill.
-
Your hardware: Your current phone box will keep working — no new equipment is required.

We’re moving to a new phone platform. After the update, your GFiber Phone number will no longer be connected to the Google Voice app.

How to Prepare
Here are a few things you may want to do before the transition:
-
Access your history: You can still access your previous SMS messages, voicemail, and call history in Google Voice by signing in with your Google Voice credentials.
-
Review international calling options: After the update, review the new GFiber Phone international rate card to understand any changes. You can also continue making international calls using the Google Voice app at Google Voice’s published rates.
-
Explore new features: With the new platform, you’ll be able to use features in the GFiber Phone portal like time-of-day routing and ringing multiple devices at once.
If you still want to use Google Voice features, you’ll need to set up a separate number. Follow these steps to keep using Google Voice features while keeping your GFiber Phone service active:
-
Sign in to your Google Voice account.
-
Follow these steps to choose a new Google Voice number.
-
Set up call forwarding from your GFiber Phone number to your Google Voice number in the GFiber Phone portal.
