Schedule GFiber Phone Installation with a Number Transfer
If you requested to transfer an existing number to GFiber Phone, we’ll try to complete the transfer on the same day as your installation.
Number transfers typically take 3-5 business days, so your installation options may be limited while the transfer is in progress. We’ll guide you through the process and help make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible.
What to Expect During a Number Transfer
Here’s how the process works:

You request to transfer your number when signing up for GFiber Phone

We submit the request to your current provider

Your provider reviews and approves the request (typically 3-5 business days)

You schedule your installation or receive your self-install kit while the transfer is in progress

Your GFiber Phone service is set up and your number transfer completes
Before Scheduling Your Installation
Keep these things in mind before booking your appointment:

Don’t cancel your current phone service. Your number must stay active with your current provider until the transfer is complete.

Have a recent bill from your current provider ready. You may need to confirm account details from that bill during the transfer process.

We’ll work with your provider to transfer your existing phone number to GFiber Phone and aim to complete the transfer during your installation.

If we can’t complete the transfer during your appointment, we'll assign you a temporary phone number. Once the transfer finishes, your existing number will automatically replace it
Schedule Your GFiber Phone Installation
To schedule your installation:
- Sign into your GFiber account, then follow the prompts to schedule your installation.
- You’ll be directed to an online scheduler. If your number transfer is in progress, the calendar shows two types of appointments:
- Blue dates: We can transfer your phone number on this day.
- Red dates: We can install your service, but we can’t transfer your phone number that day.
- Choose a blue date so your installation and number transfer happen together.
If none of the available dates work for you, you can select Notify me of new appointments to get alerts when new times open up.
Reschedule Your Installation
If you need to reschedule within 48 hours of your appointment, contact GFiber customer support to choose a new time. Last-minute changes may interrupt your phone service if your number transfer completes before installation. If that happens, you can still make and receive calls using Google Voice on a web browser or mobile device until your installation is complete.
To reschedule your appointment:
- Sign into your GFiber account.
- Follow the prompts to update your appointment.
- Choose a new available date in the scheduler.
Cancel Your Installation
If you cancel your installation appointment while a number transfer is in progress, the transfer will also be canceled. You'll need to submit your number transfer request again in your GFiber account.
If you cancel within 48 hours of your scheduled appointment, we may not be able to stop the transfer in time. If that happens, your current provider may disconnect your phone service until we complete your GFiber Phone installation.
