Configure Custom DNS and Dynamic DNS Settings

Learn how to set up custom DNS servers and Dynamic DNS (DDNS) using the gFiber App or web portal to customize your network routing.

To configure custom DNS (Domain Name System) servers, navigate to your network's advanced settings in the gFiber App or gFiber web portal, turn on custom DNS, and enter up to 3 custom IPv4 addresses. To set up Dynamic DNS (DDNS), open the gFiber App to select your third-party provider and enter your host account details.

Set custom DNS servers

By default, your gFiber router handles web routing automatically. If you prefer to route traffic through a specific third-party provider (such as Cloudflare, OpenDNS, or custom parental control filters), you can specify up to 3 custom IPv4 DNS addresses using either the gFiber App or the gFiber web portal.

Customizing Domain Name System (DNS) properties modifies how your network resolves website addresses. You do not need to alter these configurations for standard internet browsing, streaming, or general network use.

Use the gFiber mobile app

Before you begin, download the gFiber App for your Android or iOS device.
  1. Open the gFiber App and tap Network on the bottom menu.
  2. Tap Network settings, select Advanced network settings, and tap DNS.
  3. Toggle DNS servers to ON.

  4. In the provided IP address fields, enter up to 3 custom IPv4 DNS server addresses in your preferred order of contact.
  5. Tap Save.

A confirmation message will appear on the screen, and your connected devices will begin routing domain requests through your specified servers.

Use the gFiber web portal

  1. Sign in to your gFiber account.
  2. In the left navigation menu, click Network.
  3. Click Edit network.
  4. In the Advanced network settings section, click Edit.
  5. Select DNS from the settings menu.
  6. Toggle Use custom DNS servers to On.

  7. Enter up to 3 custom IPv4 DNS server addresses in your preferred order.
  8. Click Save.

A confirmation message will appear confirming your custom DNS settings are active, and your connected devices will route domain requests through your specified servers.

Set Up Dynamic DNS (DDNS)

The gFiber network assigns dynamic public IP addresses that change periodically. If you host a local service (such as an FTP or SSH server) and need remote access using a consistent web domain name, you must set up Dynamic DNS.

Dynamic DNS management is available exclusively in the gFiber mobile app and cannot be configured via the web portal.

Important: You must create a domain account with a supported third-party DDNS provider before configuring these settings. Supported providers include changeip.com, domains.google.com, easydns.com, no-ip.com, and zoneedit.com.
Before you begin, download the gFiber App for your Android or iOS device.
  1. Open the gFiber App and tap Network on the bottom menu.
  2. Tap Network settings, select Advanced network settings, and tap DNS.
  3. In the Dynamic DNS section, select your third-party host from the Service provider dropdown menu.
  4. In the Username and Password fields, enter your exact account credentials for the third-party provider. Tap Show next to the password field to verify your entry.
  5. In the Domain / Hostname field, type your registered domain name.
  6. Tap Apply.

Your gFiber router will automatically update your dynamic IP address with your third-party DDNS provider, allowing seamless remote access to your home network service.
