FAQs
During setup, you can choose to get a new phone number or transfer your existing number to GFiber Phone (also called a port-in).
When you sign up for GFiber Phone, you’ll choose your installation date. If you’re transferring a number, available appointment dates in blue reflect the time needed to process the transfer (typically 3-5 business days). To complete your number transfer on installation day, provide your current account number and PIN, and keep your existing service active until the transfer is complete. If your number isn’t ready by installation day, we’ll assign a temporary number so you can start using GFiber Phone and replace it once the transfer starts.
Most transfers take about 3-5 business days, but it may take longer if your information doesn’t match your current provider’s records.
No. Keep your current service active until the transfer is complete. Canceling early can delay or prevent the transfer.
Your new provider may ask for:
-
Your name and service address exactly as shown on your GFiber account
-
Your GFiber phone number (usually your 10-digit account number)
-
Your voicemail PIN
GFiber Phone uses your internet connection to deliver phone service. A small phone box connects to your Fiber Jack and router, and you plug your existing analog phone into the box to get a digital dial tone.
GFiber Phone requires power and internet to work. Add a phone battery backup to keep service running during a power outage.
